After a few days up in Auckland on a training course, the rest of the family came up to join me for the weekend to stay with friends Mac & Brenda who live in an awesome spot backing on to Mt Eden/Maungawhau. I had a great time exploring with my camera around the Viaduct Basin area on a couple of evenings, and at the weekend we were lucky enough to get out on Mac’s boat for a day from Gulf Harbour on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula out to the predator-free Tiritiri Matangi Island in the Hauraki Gulf, where we couldn’t believe how tame the takahe are.
The kids also managed to fit in Kelly Tarlton’s Aquarium, the Sky Tower, the Auckland Observatory and Butterfly Creek!
